French Fried Green Peppers

2 large green peppers
6 Tbs. fine, dry bread crumbs
Salt to taste
1 1/2 tsps. oregano leaves
1/8 tsp. ground black pepper
1/3 c. grate parmesan cheese
1 large egg
2 Tbs. water

Wash green peppers. Cut off tops, remove seeds and core. Cut into rings 1/8 inch thick. Dip rings in a mixture of crumbs, salt, oregano, peper and parmesan cheese, then in egg beaten with water and finally in crumb mixture again. Chill about an hour. Fry rings in 1/2 inch of hot fat (375 degrees F). Drain on absorbent paper
