Hot Buttered & Spiced Cider

4 quart apple cider
2 cinnamon sticks
4 whole cloves
2 Tbs. butter
2 c. dark rum, optional

Combine cider, cinnamon sticks & cloves in a saucepan. Cover, bring to a simmer over low heat & cook 10 minutes. Stir in butter & rum & serve immediately or pour into a thermos.
