Coleman House Chocolate Chess Pie

1 1-ounce square unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter (do not use margarine)
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 unbaked (9-inch) pie shell
For garnish: whipped cream and sliced almonds

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small saucepan, melt chocolate and butter on low heat. In a small glass bowl, mix eggs, sugar and vanilla. Add melted chocolate and mix well. Pour into pie crust and bake 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until set. Check at 45 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Serve with whipped cream topped with sliced almonds. Or spread whipped cream on top and scatter with sliced almonds before slicing. Per serving (without garnish): 387 calories (percent of calories from fat, 60), 4 grams protein, 37 grams carbohydrates, 1 gram fiber, 26 grams fat, 88 milligrams cholesterol, 280 milligrams sodium.
