Cold Spiced Peach Soup

1 1/4 tsps. anise seed
5 whole cloves
2 1/2 c. half & half
28 oz. can peaches or pears packed in syrup, undrained
1 Tb. lemon juice
18 thin slices fresh peach or pear
6 mint leaves

In a medium saucepan, combine anise seed, cloves & half & half. Bring barely to a boil
bubbles should form around the edges of the pan. Remove from heat & let mixture stand, covered, for 1 hour. Puree peaches with their syrup. Add lemon juice. Whe half & half mixture is cool, strain it & add to pureed peaches. Blend & chill. To serve, pour soup into bowls & garnish with 3 thin slices of fruit, aranged in a fan shape, & a mint leaf. Serves 6. 231 cal, 12g fat, 38mg chol, 51mg sod
