2 c. half & half
1 1/2 c. whipping cream
3 egg yolks
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. dried cherries
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 oz. bar good quality semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
Combine milks in a saucepan. Place over medium heat until hot. Whisk together egg & sugar. Whisk in hot cream mixture & pour back into pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until slightly thickened, about 5-7 minutes. Pour into a bowl & stir in dried cherrries & vanilla. Cool slightly & refrigerate to chill completely. Stir in chocolate. Transfer mixture into ice cream machine & freeze. Serves 8. 226 cal, 8g fat, 108mg chol, 29mg sod
