1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons poppy seeds
1/2 cup cherry preserves

These are so good that they are almost addictive. A great poppy seed version of the thumbprint cookie. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Cream margarine and confectioners sugar together until light and fluffy.Add vanilla and egg
blend well. Stir in flour, poppy seeds and salt. Mix well. Drop dough from a teaspoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Make an indention in the middle of each cookie with your finger. If the dough is too sticky, dip your finger in water first. Put about 1/2 teaspoon of cherry preserves into the dent of each cookie. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Deeelicious!
