Firewall (Out)

| | Comments (2) |

MovableType 3.2 wants to make outbound calls for displaying MovableType News and for going out to get styles with StyleCatcher. Neither work because, according to Brad Choate, the server needs to be able to make outbound http calls. I'm guessing the firewall is preventing it. Need to figure out how to open up outbound calls. Everything in the Mac OS X Sharing system preferences seems to be about in bound.

Was able to post test comments to Stonegate, JEB-LOG, and Kelly's Kicks. Able to post to Ted's Blog after logging into TypeKey. Returning to JEB-LOG, could not post comment, getting same need name and e-mail address error Ted got. Tried logging out of TypeKey at www.typekey.com. Didn't help. Tried logging out of TypeKey in Ted's comment interface (which I was surprised to see I was still logged in given previous step.) I am now able to post a comment. Being logged into TypeKey on one blog seems to intefere with non-TypeKey comment posting on another.

Now I'm at work. I'll have to test on my own later. That's disappointing that TypeKey undermines commenting like that.
