Watering the Potatoes
June 6 - It's been great weather, I have spent a few times on the lake recently which have been very nice. It's still a little chilly to swim, but that's okay. I went on an excursion with my organization to a forest of Chambarak this week. We visited some church ruins and de-weeded it a little bit. This forest was a total 180 of the place I live, the badlands, even though it's only about 60 km away and on the opposite side of the lake. It was beautiful and in full bloom.
In ten days, through the end of July, I will not be so available. I'm working a creative summer arts camp with some other volunteers in the second half of June and then will be going on a much needed out of country vacation (yay!!) in the first half of July.
I'm sad that a whole group of volunteers is leaving by August 15, I have become very good friends with them. We briefly met the new group at some castle ruins, which was a nice day, but of course a five minute meeting doesn't tell you much about how the new dynamics will be.
So before the camp, I'm busy with developing these human rights seminars and drafts for our conversation exchange between students at UGA and at GSU that will open in the fall.
I'm almost out of water, our schedule has been terrible lately and very inconsistent. I seem to miss it every time I leave the house. They are watering the potatoes these days (although we are getting a lot of rain, so it seems that would cancel out a terrible water schedule) and even if it does come on, it's for much less time and at very little pressure so the hot water won't come on and it's just a trickle. Water's a scarce resource around here.
We passed the one year mark. I have no clue what I am going to do when I return to the States but I guess I should start thinking about it...

You look like a diva with all of those guys! Are they all peace corps volunteers?
Glad you are into a project that you will enjoy and that you will soon be getting a vacation. It sounds like you are enjoying the last year! That's good. Always remember "This is the day the Lord has made - let us rejoice and be glad in it".
You will appreciate water the rest of your life! I can't imagine such a water shortage.
Love,
Gramalie
I love that picture!
Congratulations on the one year mark, keep up the good work.
Keep on posting!!
We talked to Nicole Sunday, and she explained the "mustache" picture. All of the current Peace Corps men decided to grow mustaches to greet the incoming volunteers (A17s.) So that's Nicole in the middle of all her A15 and A16 buddies, including Brian, who is her famous blogging/Apple friend. They all shaved the mustaches off the same day.
I LOVE your hair! I don't even remember when your hair was that long!
Nicole,
WOW...our adorable intern is in the peace corp!! Great picture...you look so happy! Congratulations on your 1st year and God's blessings on your 2nd year.
