Fort Jackson and Southern Cookin'
I was channel surfing this morning and came upon the food channel. "Southern Cooking" with Paula something or another was on. It was the beginning of the show and the narrorator was describing a fort in which she was going to cook. It was none other than Fort Jackson, in Savannah. I had visited and eaten in that Fort less than two weeks ago during a workcamp I had attended in Hilton Head. The fort had first been used by the confederates in the civil war. They evacuated when union troops began to close in. The union then took control of it. There where three large cannons (two fake) and a small one. There where guys who walked around in uniforms with real working guns. They fired a rifle, and then a small cannon. They where both pretty loud.
