Ipod Folders

I was creating a "best of" series (ie. best of the eagles, best of pink floyd)But i dont know how I could put all that into its own folder so I could go: music>playlists>best of> best of led zeppelin>immigrant song. Is there a way I could create a folder like that?

You will have to make a playlist to do that (File:New:Playlist then drop songs onto it when it shows up on the left side of iTunes). The iPod doesn't recognize folders, it is organizing everything based on the MP3 tags stored in each song file. You probably want to leave the tags alone so that if you want to play an album, that song will still show up there.

The problem I had was that I would have one song by an artist from one of their albums and now that artist would show up in my already long list of artists and then that album would show up. So for singles like that I changed the artist to "Single" and the song name to "Artist - Song Title" (whatever the Artist and Song Title were) and left the Album and track number blank (sometimes I will include the year, and I will put the Artist, Album, Track Number, etc. in the comment field so that I can put that information back if I ever need to). That way all my Singles show up under the artist "Single" and are listed alphabetically by the actual artist. You can see how it works by going to my list of songs on my website and scrolling down to the artist "Single".

You can also see that I made a playlist (at the bottom) called "Lyle Lovett" which are his best songs, similar to what you are trying to do.

I read your post again. I don't think you can have a group of "Best of" playlists like you are talking about.

DORK!

UT:

You know iTunes 5 lets you put playlists in folders now.

Eric:

REALLY!!! HOW??

Eric:

will this work on my ipod?

Eric:

I'm trying to add a folder to my ipod, and it won't work. Maybe I need the new ipod software update.

UT:

I just tried it and then looked up more about this feature. It doesn't work on the iPod, just in iTunes. Bummer.
